Large, oblong format (11.25 x 14.5"). Burgundy leather spine, blue cloth with gilt title to front. Cream endpapers. Eleven etchings on steel with paper guards accompanied by prose and rhyme. Spine and corners are very worn. Covers are grubby and marked. Front joint (between free-endpaper and frontis) is cracked. Heavy foxing to contents (affecting plates). Some of the guards are creased. Contents generally clean.

Spine and corners bumped, small splash mark to lower edge of rear cover. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Endpapers lightly browned. Foxing and fingermarks to contents but generally they are clean. Joints are cracked but binding still tight.

Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. A few light spots to covers. Light pink damp stains to edges of endpapers. Browning to half-title, tissue-guard of frontis and to last page of booklist. Foxing and some page edge darkening throughout. A good example of the 2nd edition.

Slight loss from edge of marbling on front cover. Slight scuffing to marbling. Marks to pastedowns, appear to correspond with leather. Pencil writing about contents to title page. A few marks/fingermarks to prelims, contents generally clean.

"A New Collection of Popular Tales" translated from the German by Taylor. 3/4 leather binding with gilt title and decoration to spine. Blue cloth to covers. B/w plates. Spine is rubbed and slightly darkened. Corners are slightly worn. There are a few light marks to the front cover. Both joints are cracked but not broken. Most of the tissue-guards to the plates have been removed. I think there may be an illustration to the prelims missing. Plate to page 200 has been repaired (was in two pieces has been laid down on a white piece of paper) and the last plate has lower corner torn off (actual illustration not affected). There is foxing and fingermarks to the contents. A decent copy overall of this very rare Brothers Grimm item.

Spine and corners bumped and worn, spine professionally re-backed retaining original cloth. Cover edges lightly rubbed. Covers a bit grubby. Name and date in ink to front endpaper. Joints cracked and repaired, Small binders sticker to rear pastedown. There is foxing and grubby fingermarks throughout and there are light damp stains to the plates (mainly evident on verso but some do show stains to front, however, colours are still bright on all plates). A decent copy of a very scarce book.

Considering the age of the book the contents are reasonably clean. This is a decent copy of a very scarce item.
