Cochrane was an inspired naval commander in the Napoleonic wars, a leading figure in the Radical movement but he was also guilty of making disastrous decisions on land and being pig-headed and vindictive and he used his memoirs to settle old scores. Colour illustrations. Dark blue cloth, with gilt title, border and vignette. 311 pages. A lovely copy contained in publisher's slipcase in almost fine condition.
