Large format. This facsimile edition has been reproduced from the manuscript Egerton MS 747 in The British Library through digital photography by Laurence Pordes, and printed at The Bath Press, Glasgow, on Phoenix Motion Xenon paper. This edition of 1000 copies has been bound for the members of The Folio Society by Smith Settle of Otley in full goatskin leather, with leather onlays, over bevelled boards, blocked with a design by David Eccles, with handmade laid-paper endleaves from the Fabriano mill. Contained in a green solander box, with smaller separate 'Commentary' book by Minta Collins containing the list of plants by Sandra Raphael. This is Copy No. 45. Only blemish is a small circle of surface paper lifting to copy number page and opposite page. Commentary book is also in fine condition in a near fine box, which has small bump and light mark.
Leather spines and corners; raised bands to spines, with leather title boxes; gilt titles. Text is in Latin. Exhibens Plantas per Regnum Britanniae Foponte Crefcentes, ..... Volume I - Front cover is held on by stitching - leather has broken away. Foxing and page browning throughout; leather piece to top of spine has small piece missing. Volume II - Covers are held on by stitching only. Some loss to leather on spine. Front endpaper is nearly detached. Some grubby marks and foxing.
Small format. Leather bound with raised bands and red & gilt title block to spine. Introduction in French, plus the full text in Latin. Spine and corners worn. Some loss to the boards along edges of spine and top / tail of spine. Some ink annotation, mainly to early books of the Aeneid.
