Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
The wild plants of the county of Hertford and the adjoining areas included in Watsonian vice-county 20. Blue boards, gilt title to spine. Colour frontis. B/w photos and distribution maps. Spine and corners slightly bumped. Small bookseller's sticker and address label on front endpapers. Contents fine. Wrapper has loss at top of spine, is slightly creased at edges and nicked at lower corners.

Facsimile edition with introductory booklet in custom made clamshell box. 91 watercolour facsimiles from the Maria Sibylla Merian Collection in the British Museum. Maria Sibylla Merian was one of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries' great painters of plants and animals. Limited edition of 1000. A sturdy inner panel holds the commentary volume underneath. This is bound in green cloth and printed on high-quality white laid paper. Julie Harvey of the Entomology Library at the Natural History Museum has written a fascinating introduction to Merian's work, setting it in context and providing an overview of her life and times. Due to the size of this book, if posted, it will need to be sent via courier. Small scuff mark to top of rear board (minor). Else a beautiful copy. Copy No. 16 of 1000. Clam shell case is in fine condition. Contained in original packaging from the Folio Society - polystyrene (reinforced and repaired with brown tape) and cardboard box. This copy would make a wonderful gift.
