Wayside & Woodland Series. Maroon leatherette covers with gilt titles and vignettes. First series - comprises The Superfamilies Caraboidea, Palpicornia, Staphylinoidea and Diversicornia. Second Series - comprises - The Superfamilies Clavicornia, Heteromera, Lamellicornia, Phytophaga and Rhynchophora, and Including the Strepsiptera. Colour and b/w plates with numerous text figures and diagrams. A few light marks to top edges of volume 1, the covers of which are still very bright. The covers of volume 2 are just a little dulled but otherwise clean and bright. Spine and corners of both volumes are a tinyb it bumped and rubbed. Evidence of old (partially erased) pencil prices to front free-endpapers else contents are clean. A nice set.

Harford led the first attack against the Zulus, causing some confusion in the heat of battle by pausing to collect a rare beetle. Large format. Black boards, gilt title to spine. Colour & b/w illustrations & photos. A few light marks to covers. Vertical crease to front endpaper, but rest of contents are excellent! Wrapper is a little edge-creased.
