CHERRYWOOD CANNON
Illustrated by Ralph Steadman
Published by Paddington Press. 1st. 1978
Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. A fable of war and peace, the story of a people so transformed and disfigured by hate that at one point Steadman actually considered drawing masks on the to hide their ugliness. The idea was disgarded when he came to draw the enemy and found that he could not - the enemy didn't exist. Based on a story told to Steadman by Dimitri Sidjanski. Large format. White boards with black silhouette to front cover. Colour illustrations. Not paginated.
SIGNED by the artist to title-page with a small doodle to the cannon illustration. Small nibble patch to base of spine of book. Ink (biro) 2.00 written to top corner of front free-endpaper. Some loss to lower spine corner of front panel of wrapper (where it was nibbled). Dustwrapper is lightly browned, some lifting of laminate at lower edge of front panel.
