Almost very good condition in a good dustwrapper. The last book to be illustrated by Rackham. Grahame himself originally approached Rackham to illustrate his book but at that time it could not be managed. It was thirty years later that Rackham finally consented. The pictures were finished just as World War II broke out and were originally published in America by the Limited Editions Club. Green cloth, gilt titles to spine. 12 lovely colour plates plus 15 line illustrations in the text. 178 pages.
Minimal bumping to spine and corners. Some marks to front cover, splashes and a few tiny specks of white. Slight fading to edges. Name and date in pen to front endpaper. Surface paper damage to bottom edge of pastedown and front endpaper. One hinge starting to crack. Very little foxing. Price-cut dustwrapper has large tear across front panel which has tape residue and label to verso from attempted repair. Some loss of paper from base of spine. Edge is chipped and spine is a little faded.
