  • When Vernon-Smith, the Bounder of the Remove dropped a bombshell by announcing that he was going to cut the Courtfield soccer match, Harry Wharton, Captain of the Remove, was in a spot. Strong opposition from his form-mates forced Smithy to change his mind, but by then Wharton was too angry to take him on again.
