A BUSHEL OF MERRYTHOUGHTS
Illustrated by Wilhelm Busch
Published by Sampson Low, Son & Marston. 1st. 1868
Fair condition. Four works in one volume. Contains: The Terrible Punishment of the Naughty Boys of Corinth; The Disobedient Children Who Stole Sugar-Bread; Cat And Mouse; The Fearful Tragedy of Ice-Peter. Reprinted in 1900 as A Book of Merry Thoughts. Oblong format, pictorial front board, green cloth spine. Comical b/w illustrations accompanied by hunourous verse.
The book has been repaired with all pages having reinforced hinges. Page 13 of Cat and Mouse is missing as it is from all copies. Covers are worn and chipped at edges and badly scuffed to rear. Extensive foxing and grubby marks throughout with pencil drawings and annotation mainly on blank pages. Despite all this it remains a readable copy of a scarce Victorian book.
