- Janosh was an old soldier who loved to boast about his past exploits. When he went to live in his old village in Hungary the people swallowed his tall stories whole, and regarded him as a hero. Only the Student had his doubts and he expressed these in the traditional Hungarian way - by sneezing loudly whenever he thought the story was too tall. This is one of those that he sneezed at loudest of all.
