Set in 1835 in Paris and following the interwined lives of three characters of a boardinghouse on the banks of the Seine. Dark blue leather spine with two raised bands, gilt titles and tooling. Bue cloth boards with gilt tooling. Marbled endpapers. B/w illustrations. All edges gilt. Minor scuff to rear board else appears unread. Bookplate to front pastedown with personal name typed.

Translated and with an introduction by Hunt. Grey pictorial cloth, gilt title to spine. Two-tone full page illustrations. 320 pages. Spine is lightly browned. Top edge of slipcase is faded and there is very slight wear to opening corners.
