  • It was just like Arthur Augustus D'Arcy to forget his bike-lamp; just like him to try riding in the dark; and just like him to run right into trouble. But there was even more trouble in store for his pal Talbot. Why did Talbot go pale when he saw the man who had dropped from the wall in front of Gussy's bike? What did the Ruffian mean when he called Talbot 'The Toff'? Most important of all who was the mysterious prowler whose activities caused such a dark shadow of suspicion to fall on Talbot?
