John Leland was a humanist scholar and royal servant who wrote this famed account of his journeys through England as 'the king's antiquary' in the 1540s, though the Itinerary was not published until 1710. This edition retians everything in the Itinerary of historical or topographical interest, turning the text into modern English and arranging it by historic county. Pictorial cardwraps.
