Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
This study, published posthumously, describes the introduction of gunpowder, the earliest guns and their development, and the ways in which the castle designers sought to meet the new threat to their foritifcations which resulted from the introduction of battering ordnance. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w photos and illustrations. xix and 121 pages including index. A few minor marks and scuffs to boards. Foxing to endpapers and text block. Else contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper has some foxing, is edge-rubbed, faded to spine and grubby.
