The Atlantic, the only ship that ran out of coal in 1873, resulting in the loss of lives of 562 people. The blunder of the engineer combined with the negligence of the master to produce one of the worst maritime disasters the world has ever known. Burgundy boards, gilt title to spine. ISBN: 0900976500. Many cargoliners and tramps from Britain and Europe and most coasters from Australia and New Zealand were eventually 'sold East' to begin a second career for owners based in Shanghai (until 1949) or Hongkong. A sequel to 'Beancaker to Boxboat' completing the study of the shipping firms that had their origins on the China Coast before 1949. Blue boards, gilt titles. B/w photos. ISBN: 0959907947. Top & tail of spine lightly rubbed. Contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly worn at corners with a few small clsoed tears, spine is faded (title almost disappeared) with a small stain.

In 1606 the little Dutch East India Company Ship, Duyfken, came upon the coast of Cape York Peninsula. Its skipper, Willem Jansz went to his grave without knowing that his crew were the first Europeans to land on the shores of the sixth continent. His chart lay undiscovered in the archives for many years. Nearly 400 years later, a small group of people dedicated themselves to the daunting task of bringing the Dufyken story back to life including building a replica ship. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w photos & illustrations and a few colour photos. This is a presentation copy of 1000 numbered and signed by the author. ISBN: 1876268247. This is copy 340 of 1000 SIGNED by the author. Text block browned, a few foxspots to endpaper. Blue pictorial dustwrapper is lightly scuffed. Strong tobacco smell present.
