COPPEROPOLIS: LANDSCAPES OF THE EARLY INDUSTRIAL PERIOD IN SWANSEA
Published by The Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments in Wales. 1st. 2000
Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Swansea was the first industrial region in Wales, and its pre-eminence as the international centre of copper-smelting at the end of the eighteenth century, and throughout the nineteenth century, earned it the title Copperopolis. In this volume much of this pioneering industrial and social landscape is mapped and its significance in the national and international context is described. Large format. Brown cloth boards, orange foil titles. B/w photos and illustrations.
Minor foxing to top edge of text block and half-title page. Contents clean. Verso of dustwrapper foxed, not visible to front. Some light scuffing to dustwrapper. Overall, a very nice copy of a scarce title.
