Very good condition. The story begins with the Locketts encountering another family, the Cousins, on the Scottish border. Initially, a rivalry or "battle" ensues between the two groups of children. However, they soon put aside their differences and join forces to help a local English woman, Mrs. Hardy, and her daughter Elspeth. Red cloth, gilt title to spine. Pictorial endpapers. B/w text illustrations.

Spine and corners bumped. Some light marks to covers. Foxing to textblock.
