Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
No. 14 in University of London Historical Studies. A monograph on the final tour of duty for Lord Salisbury at the turn of the 20th century. It covers 1895-1902. The book's central theme is the struggle for control between Lord Salisbury and those of his colleagues who, led by Joseph Chamberlain and Lord Landsdowne, advocated and finally secured the adoption of the new and questionable policy of partial-commitment. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine. x and 451 pages including index. Couple of tiny minor marks to front board. Foxing to text block. Light browning to endpapers, inscription in ink to front endpaper. Else contents clean. Red dustwrapper is browned to spine with damp mottling, lightly edge rubbed and lightly browned. Musty odour present.
