THE WEYMOUTH HARBOUR TRAMWAY
by J.H. Lucking
Published by Oxford Publishing Co. 1st. 1986
Almost very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Countless summer visitors, as well as passengers for the Channel Islands and France, have come to know Weymouth as 'the place where the trains run through the street'. This comprehensive study provides a full account, from arly unfulfilled proposals in the 1840s, through the line's horse-drawn bneginnings in the 1860s and long years of commercial importance, to the almost complete decline following the withdrawal of freight traffic in 1970. Large format. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w photos.
Light bump to lower front corner of boards. Personal gift inscription in ink to front endpaper. Some foxing present mainly to prelims and margins. A few grubby fingerprints to prelims. Otherwise contents are clean. Price-cut pictorial dustwrapper is faded to spine.
