- Moorland Mousie, who has made thousands of reader friends, has been growing older and has had many exciting adventures - more than come the way of most ponies.
- He falls into the hands of Jake, a gipsy boy, whom all animals instinctively trust. He stays with the caravan people, where he learns about circus life from Midget, a performing pony. A tinker becomes Mousie's owner, but eventually he returns to his own home where he gets the warmest of welcomes.
