• Everyone knows that if two people pull a wishbone (or merrythought), the one who ends up with the longer part makes a wish. But how often do these dreams come true? Nick decided to experiment. What if everyone's had it wrong all this time? Perhaps what you really need for a wish to come true is an unbroken merrythought? The experiment works, but the magical merrythought has powers which surprise even Nick - and he soon realises that this fragile bone needs careful handling.
