Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine and vignette to front board. 6 full-page b/w illustrations. 257 pages. Top edge green. Boards clean. Text block browned. Gift inscription in ink to front endpaper. Light browning to endpapers, else contents clean. Green pictorial dustwrapper is grubby and edge-worn.

New Edition. Red cloth, gilt title to spine, in green title block. 400 pages, top edge green. B/w illustrations. Small mark to spine. Text block lightly browned. Name & date in ink to front endpaper. A few minor foxspots to endpapers else contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly edge-worn, browned to rear panel, small tear to front edge of spine, repaired to verso with tape which is now lost leaving tape marks.
