Written in the late 17th century by a former Spanish officer in colonial Chile, the book recounts the events encountered by the author as a young man of 20 years in 1629, mostly while captured by Mapuche soldiers during one of the wars for Spanish domination of southern Chile. Translated from the Spanish by William C. Atkinson. Burgundy morocco spine, gilt titles. Beige boards. B/w vinyl-cuts. 154 pages. Spine is scuffed. Boards clean. Text block lightly dusty. Personal bookplate to front endpaper else contents clean. Contained in publisher's slipcase which is worn at open corners, unevenly faded and has a darker circular patch to one side.

Pale green boards with gilt title to spine. Pink endpapers. B/w wood engravings. 144 pages. ISBN: 0722655312. Boards clean. Light shelf-wear to base of spine. A few minor foxspots to top edge of text block. Small brown mark to half-title page and title page vertical edge. Else contents clean. Price-cut pictorial dustwrapper is lightly faded to spine, a little grubby/scuffed and has a few closed tears to top rear edge.

The story begins with an old lady watching the snow start to fall on Christmas Eve, and she remembers. She's the only one left who remembers. Purple cloth with gilt title to spine and vignette to front cover. Purple and white decorated endpapers. B/w wood engraving illustrations. 70 pages. ISBN: 1902421019. SIGNED by the author (no dedication) to title page. Boards clean and bright. Minor corner crease to a couple of pages else a lovely copy contained in publisher's red card slipcase with very light wear.

Tales from Watership Down is in three parts: the first consists of five traditional tales of El-ahrairah and two more modern rabbit stories, the second contains four episodes recounting events that befell El-ahrairah and Rabscuttle on their return from visiting the Black Rabbit of Inlé, and the third contains eight chapters dealing with the Watership warren in the months following the events of the original book. Black cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations. Green endpapers. 195 pages. ISBN: 0091801664. Hinge split between page 184 and 185 otherwise binding is tight and contents are clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly edge-creased.

The final volume of Sassoon's trilogy finds Sherston, rather than being court-martialed, sent to a mental hospital where he finds a sympathizing ear in Dr. Rivers. Gradually he works his way through his anti-war feelings, though he does not abandon them, to the point that he requests a return to the front. Light tan pictorial cloth boards. B/w illustrations. Top edge red. 171 pages. Title block to spine lightly rubbed else a lovely copy contained in publisher's slipcase lightly worn at corners and a few minor marks.

A historical story. Although they held Mary Queen of Scots a prisoner, Queen Elizabeth and her Ministers knew that she was still a deadly threat to the throne because she provided a focus for all England's oppressed Catholics. Both sides felt they had found an ally in Anthony Babington - an English gentleman convicted of plotting the assassination of Elizabeth I of England and conspiring with the imprisoned Mary, Queen of Scots, for which he was hanged, drawn and quartered.
