Spine and corners bumped and slightly rubbed. A few small bumps to cover edges. Foxing to contents. Joints starting to crack. Some fingermarks to page margins but contents generally clean.

The final volume of Sassoon's trilogy finds Sherston, rather than being court-martialed, sent to a mental hospital where he finds a sympathizing ear in Dr. Rivers. Gradually he works his way through his anti-war feelings, though he does not abandon them, to the point that he requests a return to the front. Light tan pictorial cloth boards. B/w illustrations. Top edge red. 171 pages. Title block to spine lightly rubbed else a lovely copy contained in publisher's slipcase lightly worn at corners and a few minor marks.
