Blue pictorial cloth, with gilt title labels. Front cover shows artist being watched by girl, spine shows lady with girl. 4 colour plates. 336 pages. Purple endpapers. SIGNED by author by means of a dedication to half-title. Spine and corners bumped and slightly rubbed, covers just a little grubby and illustration to spine has faded a little. Front joint cracked. Hinges cracked. Foxing to contents. A nice copy of the first edition. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

Prize plate to front endpaper (with name blacked out). Heavy foxing at page edges. Price-cut wrapper is slightly edge worn and is grubby to rear panel.

Some page browning and foxing especially to prelims and page edges.

Minor foxing to outer page edges. Price-cut pictorial wrapper is edge-worn with a few closed tears and small chips, lightly faded to spine and slightly grubby to rear panel. Overall a nice copy.
