At its peak over forty vessels were employed as mail-packets, working out of Falmouth ferrying official dispatches, mail, passengers and bullion. Built for speed and lightly armed these small vessels had not only to contend with the elements but hostile navies and privateers. Pictorial cardwraps. Colour & b/w photos/illustrations. 144 pages including index. ISBN: 1850221758. A very nice copy.
