A monograph of the family Rallidai with a chapter on fossil species by Olson. Very large format. Burgundy cloth spine with gilt title and vignette, beige cloth boards. Coloured frontis and 41 superb colour plates together with 17 distribution maps. xx + 406 pages. ISBN: 087923198X. A book in almost fine condition with faint tape marks to endpapers in a dustwrapper which is slightly faded at spine and lightly creased at edges, small amount of loss to top of spine. Contained in original slipcase which has been covered with green cloth which is now coming unstuck at ends and is bubbled.

New Naturalist monograph. B/w photos and drawings. A study of bird parasites. Green cloth, gilt title to spine. Spine is faded. Couple of small inscriptions in ink to front endpaper. Light foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. Wrapper is grubby in places, with some edge-creasing; small piece of loss to top of spine.

Spine bumped and worn with very split to top edge. Corners worn. Covers a bit grubby. Front joint is partially broken between frontis and title page. Rear joint starting to crack. Name in ink to front endpaper. Crease and small edge tear to page 85/86. Small brown spot to lower edge of text block affects bottom edge of a few pages. A little foxing.
