Cream pictorial boards. Colour illustrations throughout. History in rhyme. Spine and corners bumped and worn. 1" loss to base of spine and very slight loss at top. Inscription in ink to front free-endpaper. Some foxing and some fingering to contents. Dustwrapper is worn with loss at edges, grubby and foxed.

Wrapper is grubby, creased with tears and chips; a few pieces of loss; some tape repairs.

Set of 4 books, each containing 10 colour plates. Books cover following periods: William I-Henry III; Edward I-Richard III; Henry VII-Elizabeth and James I-Edward VII. Red cloth spines. Pictorial onlays to front covers. SIGNED by author with dedication to previous owner to first volume of set. Bottom 1" of spine to first volume has splitting with some fraying of cloth. Some other nicks and chips to spine, with varying degrees of fading. Couple of covers are a bit bowed with some marks. Corners are worn, with some chipping. Foxing and browning to endpapers and outer page edges. Some margin marks to pages. Closed tear (repaired with magic tape) to one front endpaper.
