Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Front joint cracked. Fingermarks to contents. Dusty page edges. A couple of plates are partly detached. A nice copy of a very scarce book.

Full page colour illustrations plus b/w text illustrations. Edges lightly rubbed, covers clean and bright. Front joint starting to pull. Contents clean. Pictorial wrapper is lightly edge-worn with a few small chips and closed tears. Overall, an excellent copy.

The fact the Selwyn was proved a dunce turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to him. Oblong format. Blue cloth spine, white pictorial boards. Colour lithograph illustrations. Crease to front endpaper. Pale foxing to endpapers. Contents are beautifully bright. Wrapper has large closed tear to front panel, other smaller tears to corners and some grubby marks - but minimal loss.
