Translated and introduced by W.H. Auden and Elizabeth Mayer. Black cloth spine with gilt title. Pictorial paper boards depicting the Colosseum. Colour illustrations. Top edge gilt. xxiii and 512 pages including index. Very minor discolouration to text block else a lovely copy contained in publisher's slipcase which has some very light scuffing.

Colour frontis (not Delacroix) & b/w lithographs. xxv and 183 pages. All edges gilt. A lovely copy.
