THE WARDENS OF SAVERNAKE FOREST
Published by Routledge & Kegan Paul. 1st. 1949
Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. The hereditary wardenship of Savernake Forest is an office of great antiquity dating back to the time of the conquest. The story is of great historical and general interest, dealing first with the record of the Estormit wardens and goes on to that of the Seymours, the Bruces and the Brudenells. The narrative begins in the remote 11th century and ends in the 20th century, spanning a period of some 825 years. Red cloth. B/w plates and maps.
Board corners bumped, minor white mark to base of spine. Foxing to text block. Corner crease to lower corner of contents, possibly a result of being dropped at some point. Pictorial dustwrapper is eedge-worn with a few small chips and is grubby.
