Published by Michael Joseph. 1st. 1975
Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Elizabeth Empress of Austria was the wife of Franz Joseph I, the last of the Habsburgs to enjoy power, privilege and wealth on the grandest scale. Her unhappy and ultimately tragic life held one short period during which she enjoyed real happiness and a deep and lasting love: between 1876 and 1882, she visited England and Ireland on sporting tours where she found fulfilment in the excitement of hunting - and she met Bay Middleton... Brown cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations.
Name & gift inscription in ink to front endpaper. Some foxing mainly to endpapers and text block. PIctorial dustwrapper is lightly faded and edge-rubbed, grubby to rear panel.
