PLACE-MAKING: THE ART OF CAPABILITY BROWN
by John Phibbs
Published by Historic England. 1st. 2017
Nearly fine condition in a nearly fine dustwrapper. Mystery will always surround the work of great landscape gardener Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, not least because he successfully created landscapes that were, and still are, 'mistaken for Nature'. He dominated his profession in the 18th century and yet we have little idea of what he actually did at most of the 270 or so landscapes he designed. This book is a tribute to Capability Brown's genius. Black cloth boards, silver title to spine. Colour illustrations and b/w plans.
A lovely copy. Pictorial dustwrapper is very lightly scuffed to rear panel.
