Almost very good condition. This work has been prepared as a companion volume to A Manual of Dyeing. It comprises a general description of Dyes, Mordants, and Other Substances employed in Dyeing and Calico Printing, with their properties and uses; and, as far as possible, the methods of examining and assaying thse various bodies are detailed. Burgundy cloth, gilt title to spine. 372 pages plus 86 pages catalogue to rear (dated 27/7/01).
Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Spine lightly faded. A few light marks and scuffs to boards. Text block browned. Front joint pulled (between front endpaper and fly). Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. '3671' written in red pencil to verso of title page. Hinges pulled but binding is tight. A few minor foxspots to rear of contents. Light musty smell present.
