Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
Red leather embossed spine, gilt titles, brown cloth covers. 1680 pages + 8 pages of advertisements. Colour and b/w plates. A hefty volume. Spine and corners slightly bumped. Some hinges pulled/cracked but binding still nice and tight. Slight musty smell to contents. Dustwrapper is worn and torn with repairs on verso, section of loss to top corner of rear panel. Exceptionally scarce in dustwrapper.

Spine bumped, worn and browned with small splits to the cloth. Top corners badly bumped with top rear corner almost split. Bumping to bottom corners. Bottom board edges bumped and rubbed. Covers a little grubby. Book plate to front pastedown. Browning to front endpapers and some of the mounts for the plates. Inscription in ink to half title page. Some hinges are cracked. Some fingering. Creasing to a couple of plates. Top of book is bowed.

Spine very slightly bumped and browned. A couple of hinges are slightly pulled. Name and date in ink to half title-page. Contained in a very scarce, original glassine wrapper which is a little frayed at edges with a few small chips and slight loss. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

A couple of small marks to covers and some very slight wear to lower corner of rear cover. A nice copy of the first edition. This copy would make a wonderful gift.
