Pictorial front board by Topham showing children with puppies. Cream Spine with black titles and vignette. Orange and green flowered endpapers. Colour plates and b/w text illustrations throughout. First story is "The Hole In The Road" by Madeline Barnes. Spine bumped. Corners and cover edges are bumped and worn. Covers slightly grubby with light scratches to front cover. Both joints and a couple of hinges starting to crack. A couple of margin tears. Puzzle partially completed. Some foxing and browning. Contents generally clean. All colour illustrations present.

Large format. Pictorial boards, cloth spine. Front cover shows two children dancing in costume. First story 'Children of the Igloo'. Colour plates & b/w text illustrations. Spine bumped and worn with nicks to cloth at ends, also darkened. Wear to corners and cover edges. Some light scratches and foxing to covers. Both joints and a few hinges cracked. Ink inscription, dated 1938, to verso of frontis. Just an odd mark/fox spot to contents. One colour plate has been stuck into place with clear tape, now yellowed.

Front cover and edges rubbed and worn. Rear cover grubby and marked. Top of rear board next to spine badly bumped. Top inner corner of contents also bumped. Front joint badly cracked showing webbing beneath. Some hinges pulled. Dated inscription to front endpaper. Page 17/18 is detached from book. Browning to endpapers. A few small marks otherwise contents generally clean.

Biro has been used to outline some smaller illustrations. Biro drawing on reverse of one illustration which does affect a small part of text. Small hole to one colour plate. Some foxing and grubby margin marks.

Front joint cracked at top. Endpapers browned. Name and address in ink to verso of front endpaper. Ink tracing of picture beneath on tissue guard for frontis. 3 plates are MISSING. Foxing and some grubby margin marks.
