Animals and flowers, clouds, wagons and country crafts - these were the natural material around which Jefferies spun his web of lovely prose; and Marlborough Forest, Burderop, Aldbourne, Surbiton, and above all, Coate and Coate Farmhouse, the settings which he has chosen here. With an Introduction and Notes by Samuel J. Looker. Dark green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w wood engravings. Top edge green. 384 pages.

Lower corners of boards bumped. Text block and endpapers lightly browned. Bookplate to front endpaper. Else contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly worn at edges, lightly faded to spine, and a little grubby.
