Very good condition.
First Series; Volume I; Ninth Edition. The author seeks to paint a series of pictures, the reflections of scenes and aspects in nature, which in his mind awaken poetic interest, leaving them to do their proper work. Blue cloth boards, gilt title and vignette of mammals to spine, gilt vignette of wolves to front board. Bevelled edges. 12 b/w illustrations. xiv and 344 pages including index. Spine is browned, lightly shelf worn at top & tail, rubbed at sides. Joints pulled but binding is tight. Name and date in ink to title page. A few small foxspots and margin marks present. Generally a very nice copy.
