Very good condition in a slightly better than very good dustwrapper. A historical story. Although they held Mary Queen of Scots a prisoner, Queen Elizabeth and her Ministers knew that she was still a deadly threat to the throne because she provided a focus for all England's oppressed Catholics. Both sides felt they had found an ally in Anthony Babington - an English gentleman convicted of plotting the assassination of Elizabeth I of England and conspiring with the imprisoned Mary, Queen of Scots, for which he was hanged, drawn and quartered. Blue cloth boards, black title to spine. B/w decorations by John Lawrence. 143 pages including index.
Heavy bumping along bottom edge of front cover. Ink stamp to front endpaper. A few tiny top corner creases. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly rubbed at corners and lightly scuffed.
