Blue cloth spine, pictorial boards. Front shows two young children looking at fairies (picture by Cowham). Colour plates. B/w text illustrations. Spine bumped and worn. Corners bumped and very worn. Small piece of surface paper damage to top of front board which is also scored Rear board is scratched and grubby. Joints have been repaired. Inscription in green pencil to verso of title page. Closed tear to one plate which has been mended with tape. Creasing to front endpaper which also has paper stuck to bottom corner. Some foxing mostly to page edges. Some marks to contents including yellow marks to a couple of illustrations.

Dated ink inscription to front endpaper. A couple of hinges cracked. Light browning to endpapers. Some foxing, mainly to prelims and page edges. All plates present. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn and chipped with some loss to top of spine and front panel. Spine browned and slightly faded. Rear panel a little grubby. Some foxing.
