Cloth spine. Pictorial front board showing white cat with rabbit. Colour plates, b/w illustrations. Spine bumped and worn with nicks to cloth at ends, also darkened. Corners worn. A couple of small dents to cover edges. A few marks to covers, light stain to rear cover. Faint inscription to front endpaper. Title page grubby. Foxing to contents and just an odd mark. All plates present.
Cloth spine. Pictorial front cover shows girl washing toys. Colour plates and b/w illustrations. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Front cover slightly grubby, rear cover has a few marks and a tiny indentation. Front joint cracked between frontis and title page. First gathering pulled so feels loose. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Painting to some b/w illustrations with transfer of colour to page opposite. Also some painting to verso of a couple of plates and to blank pages at rear and endpapers.

Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Front cover has rubbed patch near top edge and a few light scratches. Rear cover is grubby. ink inscription to front pastedown. Rear joint partially cracked. Light foxing and a few marks to contents.
Blue pictorial cloth, with gilt title labels. Front cover shows artist being watched by girl, spine shows lady with girl. 4 colour plates. 336 pages. Purple endpapers. Spine and corners bumped. Corners and board edges rubbed. Scuffing to boards. Gilt worn in places. Prize plate to front pastedown. Rear joint beginning to crack. Some hinges are cracked. Heavy browning to half title and last page of text. Some foxing and grubby marks. Slight musty smell. Five colour plates present with one plate ("What a dear coat") appearing twice.

Hinges cracked. Foxing to contents. A nice copy of the first edition. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

Some slight foxing. Professionally recased in original binding with front and rear joints repaired (not obvious!)
