2 volumes bound in one. Dark green textured cloth, gilt title to spine. 12 colour plates and numerous b/w illustrations. Spine and corners bumped and worn. 2.5" split to top of front edge of spine. Covers a little grubby. Name in ink to front endpaper and pencil writing to pastedown. Front joint cracked by index and first page of index is partially detached. One gathering pulled with ragged edges. Foxing and browning to pages and plates, worst at edges. All plates present.

Small mark to front cover. Contents are excellent. Wrapper is a little edge-creased with some uneven fading.

Blue titles. 160pp includes index of first lines. 8 x 6". Early reprint with plain endpapers. Spine browned, bumped and worn. Corners bumped and worn. Covers grubby with marks. Front endpaper MISSING. Rear joint starting to crack, a couple of hinges cracked but binding is firm. Neat colouring to most of the b/w illustrations. Some foxing and grubby marks. All plates present but one is detached with ragged edges and one is partially detached.

Contains several self-caricatures of Rackham, including him in the guise of the 'new master' who gives the black boy a 'good scrubbing', and the man who catches a flea! Available in two separate trade editions, this is the green cloth binding with gilt titles and decorations. Green/white pictorial endpapers. 223 pages. 8 x 6". Introduction by G.K. Chesterton. New translation by Jones. Spine bumped, worn and slightly darkened. Wear to corners and bump to lower front corner. Front joint cracked. plus a couple of hinges cracked but binding still tight. Grubby fingermarks, mainly to lower margins and mostly in first half of book. A few fox spots to contents. Rear endpapers grubby with some foxing. All plates present.

Top edge gilt, others uncut. 13 tipped-in colour plates and 43 b/w drawings. Mauve on white pictorial endpapers. 250pp. 12 x 9.5". SIGNED by Rackham. Limited edition: this is copy number 352 of 525. Spine and corners bumped, with some wear to the cloth. Some marks to boards. Cracking ans splitting to front joint. Endpapers browned. Bookplate pasted to half-title page. All colour plates present: last plate is corner creased but all others are in fine condition. A few scattered foxspots. Contents generally clean and bright, but pages 248-9 are browned.

A couple of small marks to rear cover. One hinge cracked. Endpapers browned. Foxing throughout otherwise contents generally clean. All plates present.

Old tape marks to inner margins of frontis and title-page and old tape repairs to last page. Prize plate to verso of title-page (which is the belongs to page). Some margin tears.

Dustwrapper is edge worn and torn with damp stains to sides of spine, 2" loss to top of spine and a small patch of loss to centre of rear panel.

Originally published by Freemantle in 1900, Constable purchased the copyright and reissued this sumptuous version with revised, redrawn and recoloured illustrations. Crimson cloth with gilt decorations to spine and front cover. 40 exquisite tipped-in colour plates with captioned tissue guards. Red and grey pictorial endpapers. Top edge red. 325 pages. Title on front cover and spine is "Grimm's Fairy Tales". Spine is damaged - 3.5" split to edge of front cover at base, 1.5" to centre of spine at top. Spine also slightly faded. One plate (opposite page 28) is detached, one opposite page 90 is creased, all others present and mostly in fine condition. Tissue-guard for frontis is missing, a couple of others are loose with ragged edges. Foxing and some fingering to contents. A good copy of a scarce Rackham edition.
