Light white mark to front cover and light stain to bottom corner of rear cover. Front joint cracked. Both free endpapers browned. A few light marks to text block. Just a few fox spots. All plates present and in fine condition.

Wear to cloth near centre of front edge of spine. Covers a bit grubby with a few marks. Front joint cracked. Name to top edge and address to bottom edge of front endpaper. Odd pencil annotation. Some foxing, light page browning and an odd mark to contents. All plates present and in fine condition.

Plates all present and in fine condition, paper guard to frontis creased. Foxing to textblock. A nice copy.

Several plate pages have ink dots (......) to margin at very edges, near where book is bound. Some pencil annotation to one page in prelims. Foxing.

Illustrated endpapers. 22 beautiful tissue-guarded colour plates and b/w text illustrations.198 pages. Some bumping and wear to spine and corners. Spine browned. Some marks and light fading to covers, cup ring visible on front cover at certain angles. Both joints a little cracked. Ink inscription to half-title page dated 1913. Some rippling to top edge of rear pastedown. Brown spot to top edge of one plate guard, faint to pages either side. Rest of contents are very good with just an odd mark. All plates present and in lovely condition.

Tissue-guard of torn plate and facing text page also have tears (larger). Foxing to contents. Contents are a little loose but binding is still tight.

Peer Gynt is first and foremost a poetic fantasy, although based on a real person who lived Norway c1800. About his exploits, not much more is known than is found in Asbjornsen's book Norwegian Fairy Tales, in which Peer Gynt's chief exploits lie in the direction of fighting and conqueroring trolls. Admirably depicted by the "Goblin Master" in 12 colour plates plus b/w text illustrations. Brown cloth, gilt titles and vignette to front cover. Cream and brown pictorial endpapers. 255 pages. Spine bumped. Endpapers lightly browned. Name and date in ink to front fly-leaf. Dustwrapper is edge worn/torn/chipped with small section of loss to centre of spine, some foxing to wrapper.
