Stitching loose to one gathering of pages (but they are still attached - pg 3 -11).

Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. A few light spots to covers. Light pink damp stains to edges of endpapers. Browning to half-title, tissue-guard of frontis and to last page of booklist. Foxing and some page edge darkening throughout. A good example of the 2nd edition.

Slight loss from edge of marbling on front cover. Slight scuffing to marbling. Marks to pastedowns, appear to correspond with leather. Pencil writing about contents to title page. A few marks/fingermarks to prelims, contents generally clean.

Name in ink to front endpaper. Joints cracked. Some pale foxing and light page browning else contents clean. A couple of pages have not been trimmed correctly (binding error) causing the lower margins to be slightly misaligned.

"A New Collection of Popular Tales" translated from the German by Taylor. 3/4 leather binding with gilt title and decoration to spine. Blue cloth to covers. B/w plates. Spine is rubbed and slightly darkened. Corners are slightly worn. There are a few light marks to the front cover. Both joints are cracked but not broken. Most of the tissue-guards to the plates have been removed. I think there may be an illustration to the prelims missing. Plate to page 200 has been repaired (was in two pieces has been laid down on a white piece of paper) and the last plate has lower corner torn off (actual illustration not affected). There is foxing and fingermarks to the contents. A decent copy overall of this very rare Brothers Grimm item.

Cream boards and spine. 197 pages plus publication list to rear. Covers are grubby, corners worn and edges rubbed. Spine has been professionally replaced with cream board (black titles). Front free-endpaper professionally replaced with a name and date in ink to this page (1904). Name in ink to top margin of title-page. Foxing to contents and some slight damage to the rear endpapers/front pastedown. Overall this is a very decent copy of this scarce antiquarian children's book.

Red cloth, gilt titles. Floral decorated endpapers. All edges gilt. 15 exquisite chromolithograph plates with paper guards plus other b/w illustrations. Covers are soiled and very worn, particularly to spine and corners. Front joint cracked at lower half with front free-endpaper part detached. One plate is missing (so 14 plates in this copy), there are 2 that are the same and one that has been bound in upside-down. The titles on the plates do not correspond to the titles on the list of coloured illustrations. Contents are well fingered with foxing, the tissue guards for the plates are torn or missing or stuck to the plate opposite! This is a reading copy only of a very scarce book.

3 volume set. Each volume has a b/w engraved frontis and vignette on title page and vol 1 also has a fold-out plan of the Round Table The three volumes are 3/4 bound with green leather and marbled paper covered boards. Raised bands and gilt titles and decorations to spine. Marbled endpapers. Top edges are gilt. There is some slight rubbing to the spines and edges. There is a school ink stamp to front fly-leaf, some ink writing to versos of endpapers and a name in ink to verso of each frontis. There is some light foxing and page browning but overall the contents are very clean. This is a nice set of a very early/collectable King Arthur item.

There is foxing and grubby fingermarks throughout and there are light damp stains to the plates (mainly evident on verso but some do show stains to front, however, colours are still bright on all plates). A decent copy of a very scarce book.
