Very good condition. Designed, Engraved and Written by W.H.Pyne. Large format. 15 x 10.5 inches. Full blue straight-grained morocco binding. All edges gilt. Gilt titles and decorations to spine. Gilt decorative borders to covers. Hand-coloured vignette to title page plus 60 hand-coloured engraved plates. A fascinating glimpse of Britain at the very beginning of the 19th century.
All plates present and in very good condition. Front endpaper professionally repaired at top corner. Small inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Some text pages browned by offsetting from plates. One text page is detached, browned and slightly chipped at edge. Armorial bookplate of Philip Davies Cooke, who was Sheriff of Flintshire, to front pastedown. Overall a handsome copy of this scarce book.
