Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. An exciting story set in the Elizabethan period, Robert's ships foil a Papist plot to free Mary Queen of Scots from imprisonment in Wales. Red boards, gilt title to spine. B/w text illustrations.

Bumping to spine and a couple of cover edges. Foxing and a few marks to outer page edges. Some page corners are creased. Wrapper has publisher's original duraseal cover attached to verso of wrapper, which has some creasing and browning.

  • Robert Penderyn was about to become a Lieutenant on his uncle's ship, destined for Spain. Robert had killed a man in a duel and his presence in England was unsafe. Robert viewed the prospect of life at sea with dismay, for he was kept penniless by his uncle, and could see no possibility now of relieving his poverty. Yet he was determined to learn his way at sea and when he returned to England he had won respect not only for his seamanship but for his skill with the rapier and his daring escape from a Spanish prison. His uncle dead, Robert became master of Llanmadoc, with the wealth and confidence at last to do as he wished........
