  • Peter, Jill and Michael Branxome are handy when it comes to a dangerous adventure on the water, and so is Jill's friend Carol. Exploring the River Meuse on their boat, the Dabchick, they hear a curious tale about treasure stolen from the city of Namur and Michael at once gets to work as a detective, helped by Carol.
  • The crew have not got very far with the problem when they go for an exciting run down the rapids of a small forest river and find themselves in a very desperate situation. It is only through Jill's courage, Peter's sound sense, Michael's sudden brainwave and Carol's determination and skill as a swimmer that they win through to safety and to solving the mystery of Don John's ducats.
