Slightly better than very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. Green cloth, gilt titles on spine and front cover. This is the only full-length William book (the others being made up of short stories) and was based on Val Guest's screenplay for the 1947 film of the same name. 264 pages.

Minimal bumping to spine and corners. Small shiny mark to rear cover. A little foxing, mainly to text block. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn, 1.5" tear to top of rear edge of spine also travels across spine, has been repaired with clear tape. Slightly grubby with a few fox spots to verso.

  • The story revolves around the attempts of William and his friends to get their elder brothers married, such that they might become the recipients of possessions replaced by wedding presents. After a series of unlikely adventures, the boys serendipitously foil a gang of fur-coat smugglers, and receive a reward from the police.
