  • Roy Deighton and Dick Campbell, pilots with the British African Airways, found themselves independently detailed for an unusual job - nothing less than shadowing a suspicious character, who, posing as a German scientist, had arrived at the headquarters of the company with papers authorizing him to fly up the Nile Valley and on to Ujiji. Almost as soon as they had started their adventures began. Separated from his friend by a storm, Roy has to make a forced landing and spend a night at close quarters with certain denizens of the jungle. The, reunited, the pair come down at an aerodrome, the staff of which have been smitten by a plague. Meanwhile, though the foreign flier seems to have evaded them, he, too, is having his troubles and adventures. His mishaps have their climax when he lands on a floating mass of vegetation which he has mistaken for an island. From that predicament the British pilots save him, solving the mystery of his errand, though another mystery surrounds his escape from arrest. The tale moves at a speed appropriate for a flying story, from thrill to thrill, jungle and air adventure together making an enthralling mixture.
