Almost very good condition. Green cloth, gilt title to spine. The variety of animals and birds used in the XIVth Army in war-torn Burma included pigeons, dogs, ponies, mules, horses, bullocks, buffaloes and elephants. It was the elephant that held a special place in the soldiers' esteem. This is the story of James Howard Williams, famous as 'Elephant Bill'. B/w photos and illustrations throughout. 319 pages.

Spine is browned, with a few chips to top. Corners are bumped. Some uneven fading and marks to covers. Inscription in ink to front pastedown. Foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. Fold-out map has a few inch tear.
